1966 to 1968 documents relating to the planning, production, and distribution of Seeds of Discontent. The radio documentary series explored discontented social groups and organizations attempting to improve their conditions in American society. Created by Hartford Smith, Jr. and Wayne State University’s WDET in Detroit, the series addressed topics including race relations, civil rights, poverty, youth, and crime. Smith’s connections with the community as a social worker allowed him to record hours of interviews with people about their lives and their opinions on contemporary issues. The folder also contains a project proposal titled “The Involvement of Inner City Families in Educational Policy and Program Development Using the Parent-Teacher’s Association as a Vehicle.”
